The Arguineguín Reef dive site is a large reef that is 700m/2297ft in length that lies at a depth of 14m/43ft, almost 2km/1.4mi away from the town of Arguineguín. The reef is full of crevices, and has a deep overhang, creating perfect conditions for exceptionally diverse marine fauna. For instance, the reef serves a shelter for rare fish species such as porcupine puffer fish and large puffer fish. Divers can relax and watch interesting marine animals and take bright underwater photographs from time to time. The preferable time to explore the reef near Arguineguín is May through October. The water temperature stays relatively warm in winter as well, reaching 18C/64F. In summer the water temperature averages 25C/77F. The depth, current strength, and visibility parameters are suitable for all levels of divers. The site is also appropriate for night diving. Other fauna seen here include common brown rays and stingrays, cleaner shrimp, turtles, cuttlefish, octopi, trumpetfish, cardinalfish, moray eels, brittle sea stars, nudibranchs, grunts, scorpionfish, sea urchins, sardines, and roncadores. Beautiful, colorful anemones are another jewel of this site.
