The Los Chuchos dive site has got its name because of the large number and variety of stingrays and eagle rays (Los Chuchos means stingrays in Spanish). The dive site offers an amazing opportunity to swim with numerous rays, and even to hand-feed them. It is not uncommon to encounter up to 20 rays in one dive. The dive site has been long established and the nature of the site means that not only the rays but also other pelagic fish can be frequently seen in surrounding waters. The Los Chuchos dive site is open for diving all year round. The average water temperature in winter is 19C/66F, and in summer the average water temperature rises to 24C/75F. On their dives, divers have an opportunity to closely see and swim with as many as six different species of rays, including the rare bull ray. Other pelagic species frequently seen in the area include silver jacks, snappers, barracudas, and tuna. The new visitors to the site are sea turtles.
