The Sardina del Norte dive site, located off the north coast of Gran Canaria Island, is a bit further away from the popular tourist resorts of the south. However, it certainly worth the drive because this is a place where each dive promises to be different. These are also shore dives without the need for long boat journeys and the entry point is in a large sheltered harbor with the rocky shoreline. The wealth of marine life at Sardina will certainly surprise divers and underwater photography lovers, and night diving is also worth doing. Diving at the Sardina del Norte is possible throughout the year, because the water temperature never falls lower 18C/64F. However, the most comfortable diving conditions are during the summer, when the water temperature can rise to 26C/79F. Divers will see a large variety of typical harbor species, such as damselfish, mullet, octopi, seahorses, sea urchins, cuttlefish, wrasses, and amberjacks. This is also a good place to see angel sharks and some types of rays.
