Hamata is located close to the border with Sudan, in the south of the Egyptian Red Sea coast.
If there is something divers certainly will see during a trip to Hamata are Dolphins, and the chances to seem them while diving is high.
Winters can get windy in Hamata making waters very choppy. That makes it difficult to reach certain dive sites, not to mention the current that can be very strong in certain places. If you would be bothered by the cold winds, avoid going from December to March. If not, generally Hamata is a year-round diving region. May, June, and September are the most pleasant months as it is not too hot and there are no cold winds.
The must-visit dive sites are the House Reef – one of the most beautiful reefs in Egypt, Fury Shoals – amazing caves at 7m depth, Shaab Sataya – beautiful night dives, dolphins and coral gardens and Coral Garden with schools of anemones. There are some dive sites where currents can get strong – something more experienced divers could enjoy. Those are the following dive sites – Shaab Claudio – stunning underwater caves, Shaab Said and Shaab Maksur for wall and drift diving and Abu Galawa Kebir for adventurous wreck diving.
Along with the great coral life, there is the chance to see a variety of marine life, including Barracuda, Dolphins, Turtles, Napoleon Wrasse, Reef Sharks, Angelfish, Lionfish, Stingrays, Moray Eels, and even the occasional passing Whale Shark or Manta Ray.The most typical sharks which inhabit the area of Hamata are Grey Reef Shark, Whitetip, and Blacktip Reef Sharks.  Macro life consists of a large variety of Crustaceans, Nudibranchs, Ghost Pipefish, Seahorse, and many others.
