Meemu Atoll (Mulaku) scuba dive sites in The South (Thaa, Laamu, Meemu, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls)

Beautiful inner reefs protected from strong currents offer great dives for novice divers. While more experienced divers can dive in with manta rays and reef sharks along the pinnacles.

The eastern and western parts of the atoll have exciting channels (kandus), with currents that sweep in plankton-rich water, sustaining healthy soft corals and thriving marine life.
One of the best reef dives here is at Mulee Island. Here even OW divers can enjoy manta rays cleaning stations as they are in a depth of only 10 – 15 meters. Down the slope divers can also find other reef fish and coral formations. Currents may get strong.
Another great site is Mulaku Kandu – a channel dive with submerged pinnacles covered in soft corals. The wall goes down to 30 meters. Along the way, divers can expect to spot stingrays, groupers, snappers, moray eels, jacks, reef sharks and mantas.
In different dive sites, divers can expect to spot mobulas, jacks, lobsters, Napoleon wrasse, eagle rays, whale sharks, stingrays, tuna and schools of trevallies.
The best diving conditions in this atoll are from January to May.
